Description
The Cisco GLC-SX-MMD is a 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver for short-reach multimode fiber, the usual choice for gigabit links between switches in the same building, riser or data-center row. It drops into a standard SFP slot on Cisco access and aggregation switches. Order matching optics for both ends of the link, and confirm the installed cabling is multimode before specifying it. For a 1G link that has to travel over single-mode fiber to a separate building, the long-reach GLC-LH-SMD is the part to order.
